Latest NewsStepac Launches Breakthrough Monitoring SystemStePac LA launched its much-anticipated Xsense™ system at the annual Fruit Logistica trade show in Berlin in early February.
The system, which has taken 18 months to develop, provides monitoring throughout the supply chain of the quality, safety and location of all types of perishable goods that require strict cold chain management. Innovative disposable low-cost tags periodically collect temperature and relative humidity data from within the packaging, which is then transmitted in real time via pioneering patented wireless technology to StePac’s Xsense™ server centre. There the data is analysed and conclusions as to product quality and safety are reached, with unique shelf life prediction models able to calculate the residual product quality in real time. If there are any problems, the system immediately notifies all those concerned via email and/or text message. If the products are in transit, their exact location can be given using GPS data. Users can also obtain updates at any time by accessing the Xsense™ system via the Internet. This real time flexibility means corrective action can be taken to salvage product before it is too late. |
