Latest NewsDS Smith Replen Targets RTP OpportunitiesDS Smith Plastics has established a new company, DS Smith Replen, to provide bespoke solutions in Returnable Transit Packaging (RTP) (for food and beverage companies) in the North West European retail distribution market.
The new company has been formed as part of a restructuring of the company's Kaysersberg Plastics operation, which has created a more focused management structure that can effectively serve all important European market developments in RTP. DS Smith Plastics says that grocery and retail distribution is currently undergoing substantial change in the areas of packaging, logistics and merchandising practices. In particular, the introduction of 'Shelf Ready' primary packaging and increased use of 'Retail Ready' tertiary packaging are being complemented by 'One Touch Replenishment' concepts that allow retailers to restock their stores less frequently and more efficiently. Backed by the knowledge and experience of the DS Smith Plastics Group, DS Smith Replen will specialise in solutions to help manufacturers and retailers meet these requirements, streamlining their supply chain operations and reducing transportation and replenishment costs. The company is shortly to announce details of its first new product, K-Roll ™ - a pallet in the supply chain and a dolly in the store - a pioneering integrated one piece solution for the international grocery distribution industry, and further product launches are planned later in 2008. The DS Smith Replen team, headed by Managing Director Peter Maple, is based in a new facility in Gloucester, UK. Commenting on the launch of the new company, Peter Maple said: "This is a very exciting development. Replenishment Solutions offer huge market potential and to ensure success we need a dedicated and focused team that is able to concentrate fully on these opportunities. DS Smith Replen has the expertise and resources to meet market demand." |
